Outcome Study of Anti-Oxidant Formula in Pain Patients

By:  Professional Quality Analysts, Inc.

Purpose: Assess the beneficial effects of the complementary use of Anti-Oxidant Formula (AOF) agents in a Neuropsychiatric practice.

Method: 80 consecutive patients with a diagnosis of Adjustment Disorder were surveyed. Patients were given a written survey form to complete and these were returned directly to PQA for data analysis.

Results: Overall there was a 34.75% improvement in the patients’ perception of the severity of their symptoms. By the third week 79% of the patients noted improvement and 49% noted this improvement during the third week of treatment.

Comments on the Study: Notes should be made that this was NOT a double blind study. 85% of the patients actually had additional psychotropic agents added to their regimen and the symptom severity assessment was based on the patients’ subjective reporting. No strict treatment protocols were utilized.

Conclusions: There appears to be a demonstrable impact of the use of AOF agents in a complementary fashion on the treatment of patients treated in Dr. Gutman’s outpatient practice. As the field of Complementary Alternative Medicine is expanding, use of treatment agents such as these will have greater impact and further studies will need to be done utilizing protocols and more stringent criteria. As a preliminary study, it has been demonstrated that there has been an improvement in the patients’ perception of their state of wellness along with an overwhelming degree of satisfaction with the treatment that they have received.
